Polar Bear Style Poem Love's Shackles

Poem: Love’s Shackles

I went into my introduction of why I write poems here so I won’t go into it again and just jump right in. Sharing my first poem (despite how vulnerable it made me feel) turned out to be the right thing to do and the world didn’t end so I figured it was about time I share another. I wrote this more recently and it’s somewhat darker than the first poem I shared.

One thing I did want to add though, is that just because I wrote something in a poem, it does not make it real or based on actual events or my precise feelings towards them. When I write, I always pull from my emotions and sometimes I might pull from a real event, but more often I won’t. I will write as if from the perspective of someone else and write about what that person/creature experienced as I try to envision the world through their eyes. This is the case even if I write from the first person (which I most often do).
