Another Side of Me

I debated for quite a while with myself regarding whether I should start sharing things like this on this blog and eventually decided to jump in (kind of like when I started this blog to begin with). I used to write a lot a few years back. I’d write stories some of the time, but mostly I’d write poems. I would always have a few pieces of paper with me and a pen so that if inspiration struck, I’d have something to write on. At some point, I lost a huge part of who I was and stopped writing.

Trying to recapture or discover who you are can be a difficult process and I haven’t quite gotten the hang of it yet. One suggestion I’ve read though, is that you should really pay attention to what makes you happy. This can be tricky since there are so many conflicting sources that tell us what should make us happy, but the trick is to distill this information into something meaningful to you. At the risk of sounding cheesy, listen to your heart and in time it will get stronger and louder and you will get better at really hearing it.

In any case, after this rather long and laborious introduction, what I really wanted to say was that I was thinking of making my poems a regular part of this blog. Not all the time, but sometimes I’ll share one of my poems.
