Sometimes there are days when I’m just feeling uninspired and bored with all my usual tricks or maybe my usual tricks just don’t seem to be working. This was such a day. I remember grabbing scarf after scarf and tying them around my neck in various ways and none of them feeling right. The same thing happened with whatever jewelry I pulled out. Nothing seemed to work. Then I remembered that I used to tie scarves around my waist or hips as fun belts a few years back and realized what would spice up this look to my satisfaction. I experimented with tying it around my waist, but the sweater was too loose for that and the scarf-belt created a strange silhouette. So it ended up going around my hips.

I must confess, I felt a little self-conscious when I stepped out of the house, especially after my husband made a choked sound that sounded suspiciously like a laugh when he saw me. But he refused to admit to it and I got over it. This is probably one of these moments when it’s important to wear whatever you want to wear and rock it regardless of what you think other people might say to it. They’re not the ones living your life, you are and it’s important not to waste the precious time you have worrying. This is what I remind myself of on a daily basis and try to live by (even if it gets difficult some of the time).
