Dark florals are a big trend for this fall and winter and are personally my favorite print. That’s why this time I’m sharing a video/post on five ways to wear dark florals. Hopefully this gives you some ideas if you picked up some dark floral pieces or are thinking of getting some.

The Slip Dress
The base of this particular outfit is a dark burgundy slip dress. I like to wear slip dresses because they’re great for layering. While it’s easier to wear a slip dress over a plain top, this time I wore mine over one that has a bit of embellishment around the neckline. I think this added a little bit of extra spice to the outfit and since the top is still dark, I didn’t feel like it overwhelmed the look. I finished off the look with a black faux jacket to match the dark color of the top and because I like the way a faux leather jacket toughens up a dress. Finally, I matched the burgundy dress with a pair of burgundy ankle boots.
Black and Yellow
In this case I’m wearing a velvet dress with a large floral print. Due to the dark colors of the dress, it would be easiest to pair it with other dark-colored pieces, but the only dark piece and wearing is a black pair of tights. In terms of the tights, I went with a pair with striped detailing because I wanted to contrast that with the floral print on my dress. To add a pop of color to the outfit, I finished off the look with a bright yellow jacket and matched the warm tones in the jacket with pair of brown boots.
Black and Red
Here I’m wearing a black floral dress and adding pop of color to it with a bright red jacket since there is some red in the print and the jacket matches that. I finished off the look by matching the black of my dress with other black pieces including a black belt, black boots and a black mesh top.
Denim Jacket
The dress I’m wearing in this look is a lot more frilly and feminine than the previous dresses, with a smaller floral print, but it is still dark floral. Since the dress does have a little bit of red in it, I matching that with a red belt and a pair of burgundy ankle boots. I finished off the look with a denim jacket which works with pretty much anything.
Branching out in Dark Florals
For this last outfit, I chose a dark floral kimono rather than a dress. While I enjoy wearing kimonos in the summer and spring, I also enjoy wearing them in the colder seasons if I layer them properly. In this case I wore my kimono over a striped top in neutral gray and black colors so that it doesn’t conflict with the dark floral print much. I paired that with a pair of black pants to match the black color of the kimono, a set of layered black necklaces to spice things up and pair of gray ankle boots to match the gray in the striped top. This outfit would have been fine in this condition, but I wanted to add even more to it so I finished off the look with a felt black hat to match the rest of the black pieces in this outfit.
Thank you for reading/watching. Be you. Always.

November 24, 2019 at 11:33 amDark florals are simply perfect for autumn and winter. I like your take on this wonderful trend. The first outfit is the perfect mixture of edgy and girly. I like to pair floral dresses with leather jackets too. The leggings are always a good way to keep warm. I often wear them with dresses and skirts. Your second outfit is very attractive too. That bodycon floral dress is gorgeous and I like how you paired it with fun tights, high boots and a yellow jacket. The third outfit is very pretty as well. A denim jacket is a great pairing with a maxi floral dress. I also like your fourth styling. That dark floral kimono is stunning…and you have styled it so well.
Fab video too. It is a great way to see the details of every look.

November 28, 2019 at 10:52 amGreat Tips! I usually only wear florals without a black or dark base as I like lighter colours but working florals with a darker base is perfect for cooler seasons. I am definilty going to try it. Also, I LOVE you apply picking photos!!
