I really believe that a black trench coat is almost as useful as a black blazer if you like to wear black. Trench coats look chic and elegant. Adding one to a look instantly elevates that look and makes it cooler in the same way that adding a black leather jacket to a look instantly makes it look edgier. It’s just one of those transformative pieces that brings everything together. It pretty much goes with everything. In fact, when I go on vacation a black trench coat and a black leather jacket are usually a must over all other colors. I have pretty limited suitcase space and I already take over a portion of my husband’s suitcase (don’t feel too bad for him though, he knew what he was getting into :)) so I try to cut down what I take to pieces I know I’ll get the most wear from. Knowing this, the fact that the black trench makes the cut is pretty impressive.

I have a rather simple look going on here (I’m wearing a hoody after all), and like I said before, the black trench coat really helps to elevate things. The tall black boots don’t hurt either and echo the black in the coat that I pick up once more in the feathers of my scarf. The rest of the look consists of light colors. I also really like to pull the hood on top of my coat (when I have a hood that is) since that helps to make the look more relaxed and fun.
