This top has gathered puffed sleeves, which have been come back into style lately. Just like bell sleeves, this trend feels very romantic to me and I’m sure I’ll be wearing this top for years even if the trend will die as trends are prone to do. This is another one of these pieces that made my husband cough in that suspicious laughter-like way the first time he saw me pull it on. I suspect treachery, but he refuses to admit it and says that I misheard him. Although perhaps he just didn’t like it with the pajama pants I was lounging around in. I tend to tear into packages like a wild creature as soon as they arrive and I was so curious about how this trend would actually look, that I had to try it on right away. Does anyone else feel that way when a package comes for them?

The outfit you see above is the more permanent version of how I styled the top. It is quite loose and romantic in a very 18th century kind of way (or if you prefer, an 80s kind of way), which I love. But I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t have to toughen the look up a bit with tights, shorts and combat boots. This also balanced out some of volume. I still kept it on the cute side by choosing tights in a polka dot pattern and going for white combat boots instead of a darker color.
